Acquiring knowledge through training is a start. Practising LP modelling and optimisation skills is essential to embed and advance.
Having access to someone to help with optimisation or scheduling conundrums can sometimes be invaluable.
Regular contact and support through coaching or mentoring supports the learning.
Context
Sustaining and embedding initial learning is sometimes difficult. Having the time to practise new skills while doing a busy job can be a tricky balance. Structured learning beyond a focused training course may be a good solution.
Refinery Planners and LP Modellers will often have problems or issues that other more experienced people have encountered before. If those experienced colleagues are not present or available, external resources can fill the gap.
Service
Coaching and/or mentoring for planners with contact on an ad-hoc, as well as a regular basis to provide advice, support and course-work is available.
