LP Training

Refinery Planners often encounter challenges when using LP models. 

 

Being able to support business decisions, and better understand the underlying drivers of commercial refining is paramount. 

 

This training enables planners to deal with typical issues;

"Why is crude X so highly valued versus Crude Y?"

"Why doesn't the LP run the Cracker at maximum?"

"Why is my LP infeasible?"

Context

Learning LP software and becoming familiar and confident with the aspects of the package and the site specific model can take time.  Knowing how best to use the LP for decision-making and evaluation of alternatives is key to capturing commercial value, and the sooner planners are able to get to this level of expertise the better. 

Service

Having acquired a working knowledge of an LP is quite powerful, and then knowing how to correctly set-up and analyse the solutions to support decisions is crucial.

Training can be provided in the form of on-line classroom setting, or onsite, catering to new and/or more experienced users, with content tailored to meet the needs of the participants.

  • Recursion – using non-linear structure in an LP

o   Process unit submodels

o   Blending representations

o   Reporting

o   Case stacking

o   Scenario analysis

  • Local Optima – what are they, how to spot them and how to avoid them

  •  Running and analysing LP cases for business decisions

  • Troubleshooting infeasible cases
